Mexico IP News | Mexico Joins the Hague System
As of June 6, 2020, foreign applicants can benefit from the Hague System to seek protection of industrial designs in Mexico, while local applicants have gained access to protection in 91 jurisdictions through such system.
The Mexican government deposited the corresponding instrument of accession on March 3 and, in doing so, became the first Latin American Spanish-speaking country to join the Hague System (Belize had previously joined during 2018).
For Mexico, this is one step further into the international protection of IPR’s following its previous accession to PCT (1995) and the Madrid System (2012)
